A Prayer for When It Feels Like the Darkness Is Closing In

Loving God,

when it feels like the darkness is closing in,

and we’re not sure what to do next—

you are here.

You know what it is

to feel troubled,

to face uncertainty,

to walk through hardship and loss.

So meet us here,

right here in the middle of it.

When we feel overwhelmed,

steady us.

When we feel vulnerable,

hold us.

When we cannot see very far ahead,

remind us—

we do not need the whole path,

just enough light for the next step.

Surround us with your presence,

and with one another,

that we might walk together

with the light we have.
