A Prayer God Listens To
“Hear, O Lord, my righteous plea; listen to my cry; give ear to my prayer—it does not rise from deceitful lips.” - Psalm 17:1.
David was surrounded by enemies. He didn’t pretend to be strong — he prayed. But notice his words: “my prayer does not rise from deceitful lips.” In other words, he wasn’t trying to impress God with fancy words or say what he didn’t live. He just wanted to be heard — and that’s why he spoke with honesty.
How many times do we pray without really wanting to change? We say what sounds nice, we repeat what others say, but our hearts stay the same. David didn’t do that. He opened his heart wide before God and said, “Lord, I’m standing for what’s right—hear me!” Not because he was perfect, but because he was sincere.
God doesn’t respond to fake, rehearsed, or automatic prayers. He listens to what comes from truth — even if it’s shaky, even if it’s tearful. Heaven moves when honesty speaks. And that’s what’s missing in many lives today: honest prayers. People willing to say, “Lord, I’m tired of pretending. Help me be real with You.”
Maybe you’ve tried to look strong, to hide your weakness, to cover your sin. But God wants the opposite — transparency. He doesn’t expect perfection; He wants truth.
So today, talk to Him like you would talk to your best friend. Tell Him what you really feel. If you’re hurt, say it. If you feel spiritually cold, confess it. If you want to change, ask for it. Because God listens to the cry that comes from clean lips — and He answers the heart that surrenders.
Tonight, before you sleep, talk to God with no filters. Forget the fancy phrases. Open your heart and tell Him the truth. Give Him what’s hidden — the things you’ve never told anyone. Ask Him for a sincere heart. God still listens to honest prayers — and He wants to listen to yours.
