There is a type of song where the lyrics are not sung but spoken. For this reason, it is called “spoken word.” There is often music playing behind the spoken lyrics. It is in the light of this that we look at Jesus’ prayer in John 17:20-26. As Jesus winds down His “High Priestly” Prayer, after praying for Himself and His disciples, Jesus begins to pray for us. Seriously!!! Jesus prays for all who would believe in Him through the words of the disciples. This prayer serves as the perfect reminder of who we are, what we are seeking to accomplish, and why we do what we do.
