A Prophetic People Pt.2 “SPIRITUALLY MINDED”

Romans 8:5-7,14 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

Romans 8:5-7, 14 TPT 5 Those who are motivated by the flesh only pursue what benefits themselves. But those who live by the impulses of the Holy Spirit are motivated to pursue spiritual realities. 6 For the mind-set of the flesh is death, but the mind-set controlled by the Spirit finds life and peace.

7 In fact, the mind-set focused on the flesh fights God’s plan and refuses to submit to his direction, because it cannot!

14 The mature children of God are those who are moved by the impulses of the Holy Spirit.

We have all heard the phrase, “Too heavenly minded to be any earthly good”, or “Too spiritually minded to be any earthly good”. This is a derogatory statement usually describing someone who is trying to walk by faith or live according to the Word of God. I believe the opposite is true. In order to be any earthly good, we must become spiritually minded! 

If we want to make an impact for the Kingdom we must have a Kingdom mindset! 

If we truly want His will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven, then we must be focused on the realities of Heaven so that we can manifest them here on earth!  

Much of the body of Christ is too earthly minded to be spiritually effective! 

  • If we are going to be a Prophetic People, we must be spiritually minded. 
  • When I say a prophetic people, many of you may think “Im not prophetic nor do I want to be so this doesn't pertain to me”… WRONG! We are all called to be prophetic (We will look at that more in depth next week, maybe). As we grow in maturity we will grow in being prophetic. 
  • Maturing in the things of God requires become spiritually minded. You can not be a mature believer, follower of Jesus, and not be spiritually minded. 
  • To be spiritually minded means that we have a spiritual or Kingdom mindset. 
  • Mindset: An established set of attitudes or beliefs held by an individual. A mental attitude or inclination.
  • Mindsets are heavily influenced by environment. The environment you were raised in tremendously affected the establishing of your mindset. 
  • Philippians 3:20 tells us that we are now “citizens of heaven”. 
  • The best way to learn a culture and or language is to be completely immersed in it. We have to immerse ourselves in the culture of the Kingdom of Heaven… Then we will think kingdom, speak kingdom, reflect kingdom! 
  • When you are immersed in a culture the realities of that culture slowly become your realities. 

    • We must be intentional about becoming spiritually minded.

      • Colossians 3:1-3 (NKJV) 3 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
      • TPT 3 Christ’s resurrection is your resurrection too. This is why we are to yearn for all that is above, for that’s where Christ sits enthroned at the place of all power, honor, and authority! 2 Yes, feast on all the treasures of the heavenly realm and fill your thoughts with heavenly realities, and not with the distractions of the natural realm.
      • Refer to Colossians 3:3-16 on Bible App. 
      • Philippians 4:8 NKJV Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
      • TPT 8 So keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always.
      • The Principal of Replacement. 
        • Overcome evil with good. 
        • Put off then Put on!
        • Learn to replace the lie of the enemy with the truth of God. Then the reality of the your natural situation will be replaced with the reality of your spiritual inheritance. 
        • The reality of your present condition will be replace by the reality of your present Position! 
        • Controlling and managing your thoughts and mindsets, which will then dictate your actions, is a TRUE sign of maturity!

          • What you feed will grow, what you starve will die. 

            • The Lord spoke this to Kelly this morning; “You cant constantly feed on the world and accurately digest my word.”
            • Digest: break down (food) into substances that can be absorbed and used by the body.
            • Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the SUBSTANCE of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen!

              • You have (present tense) the mind of Christ. You determine if you access it or not.
