“A Raven Considered”

written by Dwayne Sheridan

———

Does the raven every wonder

as it soars beneath the clouds

“Will tomorrow bring the future up to me?”

Does it contemplate a fierce machine

to add substantial hours

and interject a new reality?

Breathe.

Stay calm.

Hold fast to your valued life

No need of migrant song.

Rest well.

You belong.

Don’t claw at moments up ahead

Nevermore to feel alone

Does the raven scan the ground below

And wish to find a land

Wherein a vessel built there might contain

The means to keep himself alive

Through times unseen before

A storehouse filled with all the work he’s gained

Breathe.

Stay calm.

Hold fast to your valued life

No need of migrant song.

Rest well.

You belong.

Don’t claw at moments up ahead

Nevermore to feel alone

Flocks around the world seek earthly things

Soaring, searching what tomorrow brings

Land and see the Father knows your needs

Love and live and seek the aviary of the King

Breathe.

Stay calm.

Hold fast to your valued life

No need of migrant song.

Rest well.

You belong.

Don’t claw at moments up ahead

Nevermore to feel alone.
