Nash's "In a Violent Nature" is composed of extended takes, and he purposefully edits each one to create a unique atmosphere for the project. There isn't a heart-pounding struggle for survival or suspense. The project is primarily observational, using the sounds of distant conversations between persons to supplement the scant narrative. However, Johnny's reign of terror is short-lived. After he emerges from the soil, the bulky threat is primarily captured on camera traveling at full speed. The camera follows the killer as he moves from place to place, dealing with anyone who tries to stop him. In many ways, it's a mission film, with Johnny's main goal being to get a locket that holds immense significance.
