ChatGPT ranked all 50 states on the best place to live right now — and it put Texas at number one. So naturally, we had to talk about it.

In this episode, Daniel and Mike break down why an AI finally got something right. No state income tax, a booming job market, housing costs 17% below the national average, and enough cultural range that pretty much anybody can find their lane here. The robot did its homework.

But we didn’t stop there. We also dug into some of the wildest laws still technically on the books in Texas — including why you can be fined for milking someone else’s cow, why you can drive without a windshield but NOT without windshield wipers, and why a proposed law once required criminals to give their victims 24 hours notice before committing a crime. Yes, really.

And because we’re fair, we took a look at how some other states are doing. Spoiler: California earned the lowest desirability score in the country. New York got a zero out of 100 on taxes. And New Mexico came in dead last overall. Meanwhile Texas is sitting at number one according to an AI, and we’re not going to argue with that.
