Welcome to Episode 10 of A Seat At The Table with Spare Ribs Club!

In this podcast series, creator of Spare Ribs Club Alex Holker talks to guests about their dream feminist dinner party. From their 3 feminist guests, the 3 tunes that will be on repeat all evening, and the 3 courses being served, this podcast brings together conversations around feminism, female friendship and food.

In this episode, Alex talks to Kieran Yates, a London-based journalist, broadcaster and editor who has been writing about culture, technology and politics for over 10 years. She’s written everywhere from The Guardian, FADER, VICE, The Independent and beyond, had an acclaimed monthly column at VICE titled ‘British Values’, and was nominated for Culture Writer of the Year in 2016. Kieran’s debut book about home and the housing crisis titled ‘All The Houses I’ve Lived In’ is out now.

We discuss Kieran's dream feminist dinner party, starting with a guest list of writers; novelist Alice Walker, writer and editor Jia Tolentino, and the fashion icon Carrie Bradshaw. Set against a soundtrack of Cheryl Lyn, Summer Walker and Beyonce, Kieran and her guests feast on roasted fennel and burrata, aubergine pasta, and sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. We discuss Kieran's recent book, which maps her story of finding home between the cracks of a historic housing crisis, and her career in journalism.
