As sorrowful as the crucifixion was, God ordained it as the path by which human beings would be reconciled to him. Without the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ we would still be hopelessly lost in perpetual darkness. Good Friday is the moment where we pause and reflect on the sacrifice Jesus made to bring hope to a dying world.
