Cities and Memory - remixing the world

A simple wish for happiness

Listen Later

"This composition was mostly written at 30,000 feet aboard a long-haul international flight, as I attempted to reconnect with the sounds of nature in an extremely unnatural environment. The recording is from very close to where I live, so in a sense I was also reconnecting with home with that slight edge of melancholy that sometimes comes with travel.

"The piece is designed to duet with the sounds of the song thrush, which have been edited so they fall into a call and response pattern with the main synth lines, weaving in and out of one another. The aim is to reflect simple joy in the natural world, but for the piece to be also slightly tinged with the sadness of absence."
