Every candidate and issue has a flag these days. Flags tell people what tribe we belong to and what we believe. When Psalm 33 was written, people belonged to literal tribes and believed that the strongest tribe also had the best god. Psalm 33 challenges our tribalism with this message: God is bigger than my tribe. God is the creator of everyone and is king over it all, which means that whatever happens, he’s still in charge.
