Calligrapher and illustrator Kate Hursthouse is keeping hand lettering alive. She’s presenting a workshop at this year’s Spark International Festival of Music, Media, Arts & Design. She explains how typography is a modern day art form, what it’s like overseeing the survival of calligraphy in New Zealand, and how difficult it is to illustrate children’s books.
