This is a spotlight on the Scripture Proverbs 26:1 Like snow in summer or rain in harvest, so honor is not fitting for a fool. The Bible, especially Proverbs, has a great deal to say about the fool. This doesn't refer to someone who is mentally lacking. God isn't talking about a simple-minded person or someone with a mental issue. The fool God mentions can be a brilliant person, even someone with five Ph.D. degrees. David wrote, "The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God.'"That’s a fool, even if he is brilliant. The Hebrew word for fool means "insane." So, a person who says there is no God is considered insane.

 There is a story of a young, Pastor who pastored a church in middle Tennessee, and another pastor who he knew, who had married into the governor's family where there was a lot of intermarrying, leading to insanity in the family. The pastor had two brilliant daughters who were old when this young pastor was pastoring in rural middle Tennessee. The young pastor held meetings there, and the two brilliant daughters invited him to visit. They were incredibly knowledgeable about him, about his church, the Bible, literature, music, and current events. The young pastor was impressed,  but also something was strange. The pastor of the governor’s family warned the young pastor,  beforehand not to be surprised by what I saw. When they arrived, they had to scoot chickens off the chairs to sit down and they had to be careful where we sat. While talking to them, a cow poked its head in from the kitchen, there was a horse in the bedroom, and there were goats around. The sisters had a mental condition.

This kind of insanity isn't what the Lord means when He calls someone a fool. God refers to someone who rejects Him, a fool.  God considers that true insanity. This is a spotlight on the Scripture.
