Ecclesiastes 1:2 Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher, vanity of vanities! All is vanity.
Vanity” here speaks of emptiness. It is to waste life without any purpose or any goal. It means to live like an animal or a bird lives. There are a great many people who live like that. Listen everything is empty and worthless – from just a human perspective.
Listen, worldly things are seen as pointless because of human sin and foolishness. Things are called vain when they can't fulfill our expectations. We often expect happiness from worldly pleasures, but they can't provide it. This is why they are seen as empty and worthless. Some things should be enjoyed for their own sake, like God. Other things should be used to achieve what we truly desire. We should use the creations to reach the Creator, enjoying only God. The world becomes empty when we treat created things as our ultimate goal and happiness, instead of using them as a means to reach God. This is a spotlight on the Scripture
