A Spotlight on the Scriptures: Genesis 12:1-3 – Exploring God's Covenant with Abraham and Its Unfolding Promises

Genesis 12:1-3 Now the LORD said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
The first part of God's three-part promise to Abraham is the land. God said, "I will show you a land and give it to you." The second part is the nation. God promised, "I will make you a great nation and bless you, making your name great." He also promised to bless those who bless Abraham and curse those who curse him. The third part of the promise is that through Abraham, all families on earth will be blessed.
Now, has God fulfilled His promises to Abraham? Yes, God has made a great nation from Abraham's descendants, one of the longest-standing nations in history.
Through Jesus Christ, Abraham has been a blessing to all mankind. The entire Bible has come to us through his line.
However, the promise of land is still in progress. God said He would give Abraham's descendants the land, but they haven't fully received it yet. They are wrestling to hold onto it, but let's not lose faith in God's promise. Two-thirds of the promise have been fulfilled exactly as stated.
God also said that if they were disobedient, they wouldn't fully possess the land. Today, they are away from God, which is why they face problems. But God's promise will be fulfilled. Eventually, Israel will occupy all the land God promised, from the Euphrates River to the border with Egypt. They have never fully occupied this land, but in God's time and on His terms, they will.
Despite the troubling news and world events, I trust that God will work things out His way.
