This is a Spotlight on the Scriptures: For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23.
This is very interesting, Paul is writing to Christians, living in Rome, the Christian churches in Rome were not founded by Paul, but he was anxious to see them. Listen Paul's point is that believers can still choose sin over righteousness, but when we do, we collect our rightful wages: which may be weakness, sickness, vanity, and the loss of spiritual fellowship with (not our relationship) with God. Now on the back side of this coin, Unbelievers live in a perpetual state of spiritual death, being separated from God.
The Devil is the paymaster, and he will see to it that you get paid. If you work for him, the wages of sin is death. We are saved by faith. We are to live by faith. We are to walk moment by moment by faith. We cannot live for God by ourselves any more than we can save ourselves. It requires constant dependence upon Him, looking to the Lord Jesus Christ by the power of the Spirit. This is a Spotlight on the Scriptures.
