We now arrive at one of the most pivotal lessons: God’s ultimate intention in the cross. This chapter opens our eyes to a profound distinction between the work of the cross and the way of the cross. The work is finished—once for all, dealing with the old man. The way is ongoing—embraced daily by the new man as we live unto God.

For many, the cross has been about personal victory, healing, or power. But this chapter shifts us into what God receives through the cross: sons who no longer live for themselves but live to reveal Christ, even in weakness and suffering. We don’t die daily to sin—we’ve already been crucified with Christ. But we now embrace the daily way of the cross, where His life flows through our yieldedness, weakness, and fruitfulness.

This is not a loss—it is divine gain. The call to daily conformity to Christ’s dying becomes the gateway to resurrection power and lasting fruit. As Nancy shares, it is not “doing” but “dying” that produces life.
