A Tale of Hope and Resilience in the Aftermath of Catastrophic Loss
In this episode of the Teaching Journeys Podcast, I welcome Christine Moncheck. Christine shares her experience of losing her son Andrew in a tragic drunk driving incident in 2014, and how this loss set her on a new path. She discusses the therapies and resources she found helpful in her grief journey, and Loving Hearts Connections. Christine also talks about her work with the Magic of Life Foundation Court Intervention Program aimed at OVI offenders and her creation, Umbrellas of Hope, a resource platform for those dealing with the loss of a child. Christine’s inspiring story highlights how individuals can transform their grief into purpose.
Christine's Bio
Through her own grief journey, after the physical loss of her 18-year-old son in 2014 at the hands of a drunk driver, Christine experienced successful therapies such as EMDR, IADC and LHC practices with her grief counselor and was able to build a continued bond with her son Andrew in Spirit which has led to many accomplishments with him by her side! She attributes her resilience and growth to him, other parents ahead of her on this journey and many spiritual professionals along the way who have inspired her! Christine lives a truly Spirit-led life where she has found that joy and peace are possible to co-exist with grief! This has helped her to discover her soul’s greatest purpose of supporting others who have experienced the ultimate loss of a child with lots of love and compassion!
Christine is the Shining Light Mom of Andrew in Spirit and the founding Affiliate Leader of the Northeast Ohio Chapter of the Helping Parents Heal International Grief Organization.
She also serves her local community through two non-profit organizations: As a Friends of the Angel Committee Member for the Christmas Box Angel of Hope Children’s Memorial in Stow, Ohio and as a Board Member and speaker for the Magic of Life Foundation Court Intervention Program. Other achievements include writing as a Contributor to the Grief Diaries Book Series: Victim Impact Statements & Will We Survive. She is a Certified Master Grief Coach, Usui Holy Fire Reiki Practitioner, Unity Prayer Chaplain and lastly, serves Spirit as a Loving Heart Connections Facilitator!
