The  3 Levels of Spirits, a preliminary report from C-FREE LABS:

Level 1 : Close Up Spirits  i.e. your own higher self and the consciousness of your own organs

Level 2 : Semi Autonomous Spiritual Beings a.k.a. Beings Dependent Upon The Human Psyche  i.e. the Devil (Lucifer, Ahriman) as well as various mental disorders that act as if they have their own will and seem to conspire against the individual. 

Level 3 : Autonomous Spiritual Beings i.e. masters from the past and present, gods, demigods etc.  Experiencing these beings requires a powerful altered state.
