Carly Manes (she/her) is a white, queer, Jewish full-spectrum doula from New York. Carly has been a practicing abortion doula/companion for over seven years, previously co-leading the DC Abortion Doula Collective and co-founding the DC Abortion Practical Support Network in 2018 to provide logistical support to individuals traveling for abortion care beyond 20 weeks gestation. In May 2021, Carly and community artist Emulsify published the first-ever gender-inclusive and medically accurate children's book about abortion care titled "What's an Abortion, Anyway?". Currently, Carly co-leads the Dopo Abortion Doula Cooperative, an international group of abortion doulas/companions working in their communities to ensure people seeking abortion care have the emotional, physical, and medical resources they need for holistic care. Dopo has trained over 150 abortion doulas/companions in more than 20 countries since its founding in March 2021. Carly loves the beach, chicken tenders, and her silly pitbull Mickey.
