Being an entertainer in two different eras, starts to take its toll on Gary, as he clearly has taken on more than he can handle. With concerns from Phoebe, Yvonne and Ron, Gary heads to the doctor to ask for help, and once medicated it all gets a bit too much for Gary and his life as a performer.

Under the guise of being paid for working for Ron, Gary gives Yvonne money earned by taking items from 1941 and selling them to a record collector. Yvonne has become the leading lady in the Willesden Wildians but Gary objects to her doing a love scene with the leading man and thinks up a plan so that he can take his place. Gary scores a big hit in 1941, too, when he enters a talent contest and gains an agent, Mr. Wix, who wants to send him on tour.

As Gary continues to find it hard adapting to life in the 1940’s, Gary makes the choice to return to the 1990’s. Gary hasn’t been missed though, and slots back into his double life. When Gary returns to the 1940’s, he is seen as a chicken for not doing his Firewatch duty. Gary silences his critics by doing a night of fire watching, but the experience leaves him shell shocked. Meanwhile. Ron has found himself an admirer.

Yvonne has been given a promotion at work, and although at first Gary is over the moon for his wife, his world is turned upside down when it means that they would have to relocate to Cheshire. Gary comes up with a ludicrous plan to avoid moving up north, and chooses to commit to staying in the 1940’s, but Gary soon comes to realise that he isn’t cut out for war torn London.

Series Two has arrived!

In this episode of ‘A Trip Down Ducketts Passage’ we review Episode One of Series Two of Goodnight Sweetheart, called ‘Don’t Get Around Much Any More’.

Gary is persuaded to return to the past by Ron to try their ‘Get Rich Quick’ plan one more time. Surely there is no way it can fail this time? Trying to avoid the Royal Oak on his trip back, Gary bumps into his old friends, and realises a lot has changed since he last visited. As strange as Gary’s life already is, how will Gary react when he realises he may have turned up in a different TV sitcom?
