During one of Irene Cooper's poetry classes we were suppose to do an Ekphrasis on the famous artwork called The Song of the Lark by Jules Adolphe Breton . While I saw something light, my partner saw something darker. This tries to capture her dark sentiment on the art work:
Tonight's the night,
Tonight's the night,
Tonight's the night,
I’m no longer afraid,
I will be set free
From these every day rapes
Never had a choice,
In this patriarchy,
His family my family agreed,
and now everyday I bleed
As this sun sets
This cycle will end
Soon it will be over
With my blade that bends
Today is the last day
I surrender to terror
Tonight‘s the night
