A013 - Whole Mind Thinking Is the Best of the Best

Listen Later

When life puts you in a bind — do you pick a side, or is there another way?

In this episode, I explore the power of Whole Mind Thinking — a way to hold tension without compromise. I share how I first encountered this mindset (think Star Wars, Jim Collins, and yoga), and how it finally became real for me through something I created: The Whole Mind Game.

Instead of reading an essay, I teach the game itself. We walk through real-world tensions like:
Feed the Beast <> Boycott the Beast — Should I share my message through platforms I don’t ethically support?

We explore topics:

  • How to move beyond black-and-white thinking

  • Why not all tension is bad

  • How to find the best of the best without giving up your values

I also introduce four types of tension:

  • Constructive Tension — e.g. Quality <> Speed

  • Emotional Paradox — e.g. Excitement <> Anxiety

  • Moral Polarity — e.g. Selfish <> Selfless

  • Delightful Dilemma — e.g. Beach <> Mountains

This episode is part story, part tool, and all heart. If you’re caught in a tension of your own, this one's for you.
