Genre-defying producer Shinobi returns with a powerful new two-track offering, The Space Between / Dark Rain. The EP showcases the artist’s signature ability to weave atmospheric tension with emotive, architecture-inspired sound design.

The title track, “The Space Between,” is a masterclass in sonic architecture—exploring the negative space between rhythm and melody. Built around reverberant textures, haunting synths, and a methodically shifting bassline, the track evokes the feeling of walking through vast, empty corridors where every footstep carries weight. It’s neither purely ambient nor beat-driven, but exists in the liminal zone Shinobi has made his own.

Closing the release is “Dark Rain,” a more visceral and brooding counterpart. Here, Shinobi layers fractured percussion over a wash of low-end pressure, mimicking rainfall on glass while sub-bass frequencies pull the listener deeper. The track balances melancholy with momentum, echoing city nights and hidden corners.

“I wanted this EP to feel like moving through a building at dusk—rooms you’ve seen before but now feel different. Empty, but full of possibility,” Shinobi explains. “‘The Space Between’ is about the gaps we ignore in daily life. ‘Dark Rain’ is the emotional weather that fills those gaps.”

Both tracks were produced, mixed, and mastered by Shinobi, staying true to his independent, detail-obsessed workflow. The EP follows his previous releases that have gathered support from the underground dnb scene and playlist curators focused on experimental bass, downtempo, and cinematic electronica.
