Aardvarks!

The Varmints! podcast takes another look at those weird and wonderful aardvarks on today’s rerun. We “dig” these giant insectivores and we know you will too! Enjoy!

“I”m an aardvark, strong and freeeeee… Zzzzz.”

But first, your wonderful reviews!

Great family friendly podcast: “This is such a fun podcast I have learned a lot of fun facts from this podcast. And it’s family friendly too so win win in my book” – Zenger

Thanks for the awesome show!: “I can tell a lot of work goes into this show (great production and research), but THANK YOU. It’s totally worth it. I love listening to Paul and Donna! <3<3<3” – Joolie456

“Had been hearing about the show for awhile and decided to try it out with my kids. We’ve listened to two episodes so far (wolverines and Komodo dragons) and both have been informative and fun. It’s nice to find an engaging podcast for the kids without any bad language. Thanks and keep it up! – David host of the Tales of the Fandom Podcast

Cute, Fun and Family Friendly: “This is a fun and informative show. I found myself smiling and so engaged as I was listening. The hosts are great! I hope to see this as a TV show on Nickelodeon one day” – DDJ026

We thank you all so much for your kind comments. Thank you so much for listening to our show!

Aardvarks are a “keystone” species because their burrows provide homes for lots of other animals. Here is a video courtesy of YouTube user 5050 Community that will tell you all about it. We are placing it here at the time when they begin to discuss their burrows, but we encourage you to watch the whole thing.

Can you dig it?
Aardvarks in the wild eat a LOT of bugs (and we mean a LOT), but this is not possible to manage in a zoo. How do they manage them in captivity? Turns out they are pretty easy to care for, here’s a great piece from Zutrition.com that will tell you all about it.

Dat face!

Did you know Arthur on PBS is an aardvark? Go figure! Here’s the theme song, courtesy of YouTube user DCPFAN.

Just how many ants does it take to make a good sandwich anyway? Video courtesy of YouTube user Wouter Verboom.

It takes 200,000 ants just to make a decent sandwich!

Now you know a bit more about aardvarks than you did this morning! What’s your opinion on them? We want to hear from you! Send us your suggestions for animals you’d like to hear us talk about, volunteer your rugrat to say something on our podcast, or just drop us a line about anything at [email protected]<
