Judges 8:33 - 10:5.

The people of Israel have again abandoned the LORD God. The downward spiral of sin has so descended that Israel has now become her own worst enemy. Abimelech the "hero" is the oppressor. There is a lot of detail in the Abimelech story, but for all the detail we need to not miss what was really taking place--the silent judgment of God. But that's not the end of the story for in sheer and utter grace, the LORD God sends a deliverer who saves.
