In this episode I talk about why I launched this podcast. I openly discuss why I couldn't resonate with many of the motivational figures from America, and how important it is to research if the people we are listening to resonate with us. Achieving success while fighting systemic barriers is not easy for women, but it is doable with the right guidance and support system. I had to learn this the hard way and I am hoping that my podcast will fill that gap for other women.
You will also hear about my humble beginnings and the type of challenges I faced in life to get here. It all started with my dad arriving to Canada as a refugee from Srilanka. 20 years later, I was interviewing the Canadian Prime minister on TV. How did that happen? English wasn't my first language when I arrived at the age of 14, but language wasn't the only problem that was waiting for me. Cultural battles with parents, constant criticism for not living up to brown standards, body shaming for being a curvy woman, sexist comments for being ambitious and asked "where are you from" were some of the many challenges I had to face. Every rock that was thrown at me became a stepping stone to my success, that I define in my own terms. You can read my full bio by clicking https://herlifeherway.captivate.fm (HERE)
