Clifford wrote a book recently called "Inside USAID: An Odyssey of Foreign Assistance". One of the last tales in the book is about trafficking of both women and even body parts from Africa. He was the USAID Mission Director for Guinea and Sierra Leone from 2007 to 2009. When he learned of the trafficking, he took a job for a year with the American Bar Association's Rule of Law Initiative and spent a year trying to get donors to believe it and do something about it.
