You’ve heard of absence making the heart grow fonder, but for SLDs….absence makes the heart overvalue their partner, their contributions, and their abilities. SLDs or Self Love Deficients tend to have a poor self concept, rely on their partners for validation and codependently cling to their partners in regard to their emotional needs. This can result in the SLD being abandoned, which further destroys their self esteem and self worth. To avoid abandonment, the SLD may employ manipulation tactics, people please or begin fawning over their partner, which develops into overvaluation.
