Every time we read or hear the phrase “ACCORDING TO HIS RICHES”, we tend to connect it to material blessings. But that’s not necessary. God blesses us truly according to His riches. And His blessing is wholesome. Blessing is not just materialistic. The way God wants to bless you is in a holistic manner.
Having said that, we have to get a deeper understanding of how God’s blessings work. What does, ‘blessing in a holistic way’ mean ? What other areas in life does this apply to? The blessings, ‘ACCORDING TO HIS RICHES’ style ?
Eph 3 : 16
16 According to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being,
17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
(a) Inner Strength with power through His Spirit - you have the power to do things according to His riches in glory. Your anthem will be, ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’. This itself means the anointing that is in you will strengthen you with power from above. Jesus is the anointing that is in you.
(b) If God is not liberal about blessing you with strength in your inner being - in other words, give you the Spirit to strengthen you within according to His riches in glory, then you may not have FAITH which is the only place of dwelling for Christ in your hearts and you might not get to know the depth of His love. Even to the minimum understanding of what love is, we need the Holy Spirit.
Even if you have to walk in God’s ways and remain in him and do what He says, you need the spirit of God helping you do it. Otherwise its impossible. You don’t get the Holy Spirit to abide in you by walking in God’s statutes, but its the other way around. He helps you from inside, giving you the inner man more strength according to His glory.
