Episode 12 – Accountability and Responsibility
Introduction:
Welcome to Awareness for Everyone, A Podcast about Conscious Reality Creation, and living the best lives we can for ourselves. I am MJ Blehart, writer, blogger, editor, and 21st century philosopher. Welcome to Episode 12 – Accountability and Responsibility
Recently, I began to take on a slight shift in perspective. A new take on the ideas of awareness, mindfulness, and conscious reality creation.
Part 1: What are accountability and responsibility?
From dictionary.com:
Accountable (adjective)
* subject to the obligation to report, explain, or justify something;
responsible; answerable.
* capable of being explained; explicable; explainable.
Responsible (adjective)
* answerable or accountable, as for something within one’s power, control,
or management (often followed by to or for )
* involving accountability or responsibility, as in having the power to control or manage
* having a capacity for moral decisions and therefore accountable; capable of rational thought or action
In other words, being liable, answerable, and accountable for your own thoughts, feelings and actions
Part 2: Why employ more accountability and responsibility?
Accountable is mindful
As a part of the human race, it is important to acknowledge the following Five Truths of Your Self:
* You will screw up. Plain and simple, you are going to screw up in some way.
* You will fail. The best laid plans and all that stuff. Sometimes, you fail.
* You will be wrong. Nobody is right all the time, whether this involves thoughts, feelings, actions, or a combination therein.
* You will get hurt. Might be mental, emotional, physical, or all of the above. Sorry, it’s part of the human condition.
* You will hurt others. Most likely this is mental/emotional and unintentional, but because you cannot control how other people feel, causing hurt happens.
Part 3: What difference do accountability and responsibility make to awareness?
Being accountable is an essential part of being mindful. When we accept and work with this, we empower ourselves to not only better our lives, but to help better the world. I don’t know about you, but I find that a pretty worthwhile idea.
Being accountable helps you get where you desire to go.
“Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second’s encounter with God and with eternity.” – Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist.
