Yes, it matters that 'the system' or 'the institution' has historically placed obstacles in our path. We, however, contend that nothing keeps us in a holding pattern of negativity and despair more than our own decisions and attitudes. If we are to live better, more productive lives, we must stop making excuses for our lack of productivity. We have to develop a mentality that if we aren't happy with our circumstances, it is our responsibility to change them and no one else's. No more excuses, no more placing blame on anyone but the person we see in the mirror. Time to be responsible and accountable for our own actions.
