Not to be a Dismal Debbie, but I have been noticing the signs and symbols of summer's decline and autumn's corresponding rise. I don't mind, I quite like the fall (I'm a sweater girlie through & through, so I lose confidence in my sense of self when I cannot wear cozy layers without sweating like a pig in a fast food drive thru). There's a real beauty and delicious safe grief, almost, when the leaves turn, the long grass yellows, the birds head south. We haven't quite hit that part of the seasons' ritual just yet, but the goslings are grown geese now, the ospreys are letting their nests tumble a bit, the nights have a sharper, crisper bite to them - get your kettles ready, knit yourself a sweater, and find that book of ghostly stories to read around the harvest hearth. Need a tale or two? Fret not, I've got a real ripper of a scary story for y'all on today's show. Enjoy some folklore with your approaching fall - the horizon is nothing to fear, my loves.
