  About 30% of preterm labor spontaneously resolves and 50% of patients hospitalized for preterm labor actually give birth at term. Clinicians are left with the task to effectively assess women who are at risk for prenatal delivery in order to prevent preterm labor and reduce perinatal morbidity and mortality. In this activity, clinicians will learn practical strategies combining patient history, fetal fibronectin (fFN) levels, and ultrasonography imaging results to assess patient risks for preterm delivery, in order to provide adequate counseling regarding prenatal care and lifestyle changes. Role of Fetal Fibronectin (fFN) in the Risk-Assessment for Preterm Birth (PTB)

  The treatment armamentarium for multiple myeloma (MM) has expanded significantly in recent years, with 6 new agents or indications approved by the US Food & Drug Administration since 2015. Treatment options now include immunomodulatory drugs, proteasome inhibitors, a histone deacetylase inhibitor, and immunotherapies, making clinical decisions much more complex. Additionally, best practices and consensus guidelines, such as those from the National Comprehensive Cancer Network® (NCCN®) and International Myeloma Working Group (IMWG), are constantly evolving as new data are published. Approval of these new agents, revision of response criteria, and implementation of new approaches to risk assessment and monitoring residual disease are causing significant changes in the management of MM. This activity will review areas of current controversy and topics for which consensus is not yet established, including when to initiate treatment, determining transplant eligibility, high-risk disease, duration of maintenance therapy, sequencing newly approved drugs, and choice of treatment at relapse.

Clinical Debates in Multiple Myeloma: Putting Evidence Into Context

The complexity and heterogeneity of multiple sclerosis (MS) pathogenesis renders its clinical course and response to therapy highly variable, particularly among special populations. This includes patients considering pregnancy or minority patients. This necessitates optimal strategies to personalize therapy and monitor disease activity and progression in special populations. This educational activity will review cutting-edge research on the unique considerations for prognosis, monitoring, and treatment response in special populations of MS patients. Focused attention will be given to translating research into optimized therapeutic strategies tailored to patient-specific characteristics with the goal of slowing disease progression.
