How can Christian educators thoughtfully incorporate Indigenous voices, stories, and learning into their classrooms throughout the year?

In this episode of the ACSI Western Canada Podcast, AJ sits down with Toni Boer, an educator and ACSI Western Canada consultant in Indigenous education. Toni shares some of her own background and helps educators think practically about engaging Indigenous education within a Christian school context.

The conversation explores the First Peoples Principles of Learning, including how many of these principles may already be reflected in good classroom practice, and introduces practical resources Toni has developed for teachers. These include lesson and unit plans built around The Secret Pocket and Be a Good Ancestor, as well as a curated collection of Indigenous books and teaching resources. 

While these resources are particularly timely around the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the goal is bigger than a single day. They provide practical starting points for teachers who want to meaningfully include Indigenous authors, perspectives, stories, and learning throughout the school year.
