A similar type of seeing internally to dreams is the realm of visions. Both dreams and visions were part of the great outpouring of God’s Spirit on mankind (Acts 2).

The meaning of a vision is to ‘mentally to perceive or see; a sight divinely granted in an ecstasy or in sleep.’ The major difference between visions and dreams is that visions happen while you are awake, conscious, or in a trance-like state and dreams happen when you are asleep. There are just as many biblical references to visions as there are dreams and as we expand our ‘broadband’ we must learn to value all the ways He is speaking.

As we grow in our ability to recognize God speaking it’s important to understand that the realm of imagination includes visions, pictures, dreams and impressions. In moments of deep prayer, worship, or intimacy with God watch for the unfolding of visions. Just like pictures and dreams, a value for visions will cause them to increase in frequency and clarity so let’s start thanking the Lord for how He is speaking and continue to position our hearts and internal sight to see Him more.
