The author of Hebrews teaches us that our senses can be trained to discern what is good and what is evil. In fact, it is actually a sign of maturity to practice your ability to sense the difference between the two. Many have either downplayed or put too much weight on their feelings and senses thinking perhaps our feelings are either good or bad, or not to be trusted. What’s important to remember is that feelings are just information. They are neither good nor bad. It’s what you interpret and do with the information you receive through your feelings that gives you direction.
Ephesians hints that our original design in creation was towards sensitivity but had been lost in the Fall to become a distorted version of sensuality. Because of what Jesus accomplished on the cross and resurrection the original state and purpose of your senses has been restored and upgraded through Him and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. We no longer have to fear and reject our senses and feelings because we are new creations in Christ. Now we are equipped to train our senses so we can be sensitized to information God is speaking.
In this episode, Bethany lays the biblical foundation for our external senses and feeling as well as a brief overview on our ability to hear God speak through our taste sense and how He continually speaks to us through tasting communion.
