“But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, He answered and said to them, ‘Why are you reasoning in your hearts?’
Luke 5:22
The NIV translation of this verse says that Jesus knew what they were thinking. Jesus was receiving spiritual information in this circumstance not by seeing, hearing or sensing, but through perceiving, and we are hard- wired with the same capacity. The greek word for perceiving in this passage is epinigosko which is defined as: to become thoroughly acquainted with; to know accurately; to know thoroughly.
Simply put, perceiving is knowing something in your ‘knower.’ Have you ever experienced that before? Where you may know something without any proof yet or logical reasoning? You don’t know why you know something, you just do. It’s like you know that you know that you know before having confirmation.
In this episode, Bethany begins to expand our External Perceiving Receptors and how we can not just see, hear and feel God speaking to us, but we can learn to ‘know’ it as well.
