Have you ever had an overwhelming sense of compassion come over you suddenly for someone? I’m not referring to a natural innate compassion that’s part of your personality or nature. I’m talking more about a sudden, out-of-the-blue compassion that compelled you to act? Jesus did. In fact, several times throughout scripture we see Him being ‘moved with compassion.

When Jesus went ashore, He saw a large crowd, and He felt compassion for them because they were like sheep without a shepherd; and He began to teach them many things.
Mark 6:34

Moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes; and immediately they regained their sight and followed Him.

Notice how in each of these circumstances it was Jesus’ compassion that revealed the heart and voice of the Father and compelled Him to act accordingly. I think sometimes we are so caught up in thinking God only speaks in words or visions that we forget He also communicates through our senses, therefore we don’t respond. Many times God’s voice is revealed through God’s heart. We may not always hear what He is saying but if we can feel what He is feeling we can rightly discern what He is communicating with us.
