I think most people would say they had a ‘gut feeling’ about a person, place or thing. Have you ever met someone for the first time and had an instant feeling about them, either good or bad? Or maybe you were getting in your car to run errands and suddenly had an unexplainable gut instinct to take a different route than you normally do? Those intuitions could very well be you receiving spiritual intel for your safety or even positioning for a divine connection.

Or how many of you have ever felt your heart burning within you particularly when God was speaking or revealing something weighty to you? Maybe it was during your salvation experience when someone was sharing the good news of the gospel to you? Or perhaps it happened during a call to identity and destiny where the preacher was looking for those who would go to the nations, or go to the lost on behalf of the Lord? Maybe it was when you were reading the scriptures and God highlighted a particular passage to you that caused your heart to burn in response? All of these ways and more, are practical examples of how God speaks to us through our internal senses receptor. The prophet Jeremiah described a similar sensation in context of his own call and assignment. He said, ‘But if I say, “I will not mention his word or speak anymore in his name,” his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.
