On today’s show, Tim welcomes veteran actor John Rhys-Davies to the program.
They talked about his decades-spanning career (including roles as Gimli the dwarf in the “Lord of the Rings” films, plus the Raiders of the Lost Ark series and many more movies & TV shows). More recently, Rhys-Davies voiced the character Evangelist in the 2019’s Pilgrim’s Progress. We’ll also focus on the 2011 film Rhys-Davies starred in, “Return to the Hiding Place.” It tells the story of Hans Poley, a non-Jewish fugitive after refusing to pledge his allegiance to the Nazis. Poley was the first person hidden in the Ten Boom House in Holland. He became a key figure in the Dutch resistance & in Corrie (Ten Boom)'s Army, a secret group of untrained university students during WWII who navigated a deadly labyrinth of hijackings, rescue missions, and underground networks to save & transport almost 900 Jewish people in their escape.
(WFIL’s parent company Salem Media Group is currently offering this film to watch at https://salemnow.com/return-to-the-hiding-place/)
Make sure to tune in live weekdays 4-5pm ET on AM 560 WFIL!
