King Herod harasses the church and executes the Apostle James. He imprisons Peter, intending to execute him after Passover. The church prayers importunately for Peter's freedom and safety. An angel of the Lord frees Peter from prison. Herod gives a speech and the people say it was as the voice of a god, "And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory." Paul and Barnabas return to Antioch and take John Mark with them.
