Branch Church Messages

Acts 4: The Church's First Resistance

Listen Later

In Acts 4, the early church faces its first real resistance. Peter and John are arrested for preaching the resurrection of Jesus after the miraculous healing at the temple gate. What began as celebration turns into accusation, intimidation, and threats.

Yet instead of shrinking back, Peter responds with Spirit-filled boldness. He declares that salvation is found in no one else but Jesus Christ. The religious leaders see that these men are ordinary—and yet unmistakably marked by having been with Jesus.

This message challenges us to examine how we respond to resistance. When faith feels costly, do we equate opposition with failure? Or do we trust that God often does His greatest work in moments of pressure? We are invited to pray for boldness, to remember that Jesus is our cornerstone, and to step forward in courage—trusting that the same Spirit who empowered the early church empowers us today.

The service concludes with a powerful invitation to surrender, public declaration through baptism, and a reminder that God is still saving, still moving, and still building His church.
