Knitting News, Notes and Events

Carolina Fiber Frolic, March 20-22. I heard it's sold out but email for details.

New KAL: The RAK-Along

Rak: Random Act of Kindness

Knit something for someone just because, or knit for charity. Not a birthday or holiday, but just to do something nice for someone else.

Dates: March 1 through May 1

Charity Suggestions:

Knit your Bit: Scarves for Veterans

Halos of Hope

Your local homeless shelter, NICU, etc.

There will be 2 threads open on the Actually Knitting Podcast board: A chatter thread and an FO Thread.

Rules:

1 post per person in the FO thread (because there is no minimum yardage)

Update your original post if you finish more than one object.

Start early if you want!

Chat it up in the chatter thread. Make suggestions for charities, small gifts to give as Random Act of Kindness.

Not sure about prizes yet, but I will work on it. But the point is to knit something just to make someone happy.

I am going to be teaching knitting classes at a local women's recovery center. If you have any needles, yarn, etc, that you would like to donate, please PM or email me! We can use anything you would like to donate and the volunteer coordinator has told me that supplies are a big issue for them. Help me create some new knitters who will someday be able to tell their own #becauseofknitting story.

#Stashdownthrowdown Updates

I chose a random winner from the Instagram users who have tagged their projects with #stashdown throwdown, if you have used this hashtag, listen to the podcast to see if you have won a pattern of your choice (up to 7$) on Ravelry. If you haven't used the hashtag, what are you waiting for?

Knitting Talk Back: Circular Needle Round Up

A listener posted a question on the "What Would You Like to Hear About?" thread. She wanted to know my thoughts on needles, and I had been working on a needle round up of circular needles, especially focusing on interchangeable sets. Be sure to post on the Actually Knitting Podcast thread for episode 25 about your experience with circular needles, dpns, etc.

I talk about the following needles:

ChiaoGoo 9 Inch Circular Needles

Knit Picks Harmony Options

Knit Picks Caspian Straights

Hiya Hiya Interchangeables

ChiaoGoo Interchangeables

Love it or Leave it

Love it:

I really loved this video with Jimmy Fallon and the cast of Saved by the Bell.

Went to Greenville, SC for the day last weekend and loved it. It was absolutely beautiful and I got to visit a lovely LYS called The NeedleTree.

I fell off the wagon with the #stashdownthrowdown (It wasn't my fault, I swear!) and purchased the following lovelies:

Leave it: Taxes

Other News and Notes

Superbowl 4 mile race

I finished in 38 minutes! I can't believe it!

26 Books in 2015 Book Challenge

I have finished 2 books since I last recorded:

Still Alice by Lisa Genova

Calling me Home by Julie Kibler
