Quite a few of you have been contacting me asking if acute stress (the so-called "FIGHT OR FLIGHT RESPONSE") is the same as CHRONIC STRESS. The definitive answer is NO, IT IS NOT!! These 2 situations involve different processes in the brain; they produce 2 different hormones (ADRENALINE vs CORTISOL); and they affect the body in VERY different ways. Hopefully this episode will clarify things for you and dispel the (ridiculous) myth that the fight or flight response is the same as chronic stress.
