The Banquet
Grammy’s been givin
As long as she’s been livin
A little over 96 years
And now she’s going for a ride
To the other side
And though there’ll probably be a few tears
She’s smiling and knowing
That she’s bound for going
To a heaven and a lord that’s fair
Where her Hughie will be waiting
And they’re already plating
For a gala with a heavenly flare
She’ll be going to the banquet
At the top of the stairs
And anyone she ever lost
Is gonna be right there
Yeah she’s going to the banquet
It’s gonna be a big feast
And anything that she’s been holding in
It’s gonna be released
Hughie’s been gone two years by now
And she’s just been getting by
But no heartache would ever take
The twinkle from her eye
But still to certain slings and arrows
No body is immune
Like her grandson Joel
God rest his soul
Who left us way to soon
And now she’s going to the banquet
At the top of the stairs
And anyone she ever lost
Is gonna be right there
Yeah she’s going to the banquet
It’s gonna be a big feast
And anything that she’s been holding in
It’s gonna be released
I remember the time
In the winter ‘09
We saw them in Palm Bay
Where happy hour with their friends at 5
Was the best part of their day
Then they hit the breaks
And they pulled up stakes
And they moved up north for good
To the house they made their home nearby
Like we all hoped they would
And now she’s going to the banquet
At the top of the stairs
And anyone she ever lost
Is gonna be right there
Yeah she’s going to the banquet
It’s gonna be a big feast
And anything that she’s been holding in
It’s gonna be released
And now she’s going to the banquet
At the top of the stairs
Where anyone she ever lost
Is gonna be right there
Yeah she’s going to the banquet
It’s gonna be a big feast
And anything that she’s been holding in
It’s gonna be released
Yeah anything that she’s been holding in
It’s gonna be released
