On today's episode of The 415ers, Evan Giddings and Marc Grandi react to what ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter said about the San Francisco 49ers quarterback room on the Pat McAfee show on Wednesday. According to Schefter, "there was no trade market for Trey Lance and the 49ers didn't have any trade talks with teams." Does that surprise you? There had to actually be calls, right? But why did nothing develop?
Plus, Schefter also said that "Sam Darnold has the edge" over Lance to be the team's No. 2 quarterback behind Brock Purdy when the season opens. That logically tracks, right? But would the 49ers actually do that? And is there any chance that Darnold enters the season as the team's emergency quarterback but Lance is the actual QB2?
And finally, Schefter reported that the "49ers are optimistic that Brock Purdy will be ready to go" in Week 1 vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers. How big of a hurdle did he clear in mandatory minicamp when he started throwing the football for the first time post-surgery? And what do the 49ers do if there's any hesitation for Brock Purdy, whether it's physical or mental, when he finally returns to the playing field.
