Progressives recently put forward the 1619 Project which describes the selling of the first African slaves in Jamestown.  They assert this event defines our American identify and that as a result, reject our founding principles.  While this did lead to chattel slavery in the south, the northern colonies actively fought against slavery.  In this episode, Mark explains the history of slavery back to Biblical times and how America finally ended the practice.
