موہٹہ پیلس میوزیم پاکستان کے صوبہ سندھ کے کراچی شہر میں واقع ہے۔

ہندو مارواڑی تاجر شیورتن چندراتن نے اپنے گرمائی گھر کے طور پر 1927 میں اس محل کو تعمیر کروایا تھا۔

پاکستان اور ہندوستان کی آزادی کے بعد اور تقسیم کے نتیجہ میں دو قومی ریاستیں بننے کے بیس سال بعد موہٹہ نے ہندوستان منتقل ہونے کے لیے اپنے شاندار محل کو چھوڑ کر کراچی کو خیر آباد کہا۔

1947 میں پاکستانی حکومت نے اس محل کو اپنی تحویل میں لے لیا اور وہاں پر اپنی وزارت امور خارجہ قائم کی۔

1995 میں اس محل کو سندھ کی حکومت کے ذریعہ حاصل کر کے پاکستانی فن و ثقافت کے ایک میوزیم میں تبدیل کرنے سے پہلے یہ کئی سال تک مختلف ہاتھوں منتقل ہوتا رہا۔

حکومت نے ایک بورڈ آف ٹرسٹیز مقرر کیا اور انہیں اس میوزیم کو چلانے بشمول آرٹ میوزیم کے لیے نوادرات جمع کرنے اور اس کی توسیعی تعمیر کے لیے فنڈ کی وصولی کی ذمہ داری سونپ دی۔

ٹرسٹیان نے 1999 میں با ضابطہ افتتاح سے قبل کئی مرحلوں پر مبنی اس کے تجدیدی سلسلہ کی نگرانی کی۔

اس کے افتتاح کے موقع پر، اس میوزیم میں صرف تین گیلریاں تھیں، لیکن 2005 تک ان کی تعداد چوالیس تک پہنچ گئی۔

The Mohatta Palace Museum is located in the city of Karachi in Pakistan's Sindh Province.

Hindu Marwari entrepreneur Shivratan Chandraatan Mohatta built the palace in 1927 to be his summer home.

After the independence of Pakistan and India and the resulting partition between the two nation-states twenty years later, Mohatta left Karachi to move to India, leaving behind his palatial home.

The Pakistani government acquired the palace and installed its Ministry of Foreign Affairs there in 1947.

It changed hands over the years a few times before the Sindh Government procured the palace in 1995 and converted it into a museum for Pakistani art and culture.

The government appointed a board of trustees and entrusted them with the running of the museum, including raising funds to acquire collections for the art museum and to build an extension.

The trustees oversaw a series of restoration phases before the museum officially opened in 1999.

At the time of its opening, the museum had only three galleries, but by 2005, that number had ballooned to forty-four.

Since the Mohatta Palace became a museum, it has displayed many artifacts that the public had never seen before, culling pieces from private and public collections.

The Mohatta Palace spreads across 18,500 square feet and features a windowed façade with stone brackets, domes, spandrels, balustrades, and intricate railings.

The rooms inside the palace are quite large, with the ground floor holding rooms suitable for entertaining and the second floor having bedrooms and private areas.

The palace's other major features include a polished staircase, a terrace, a hot water pool in the basement, octagon-shaped towers at the corners, and a big square hall with seven doorways.
