The technological advances that have been made with the surgical robot are discussed. They have led to increasing use of the robot as it has become safer and more useful. It is felt that with time the costs of robotic surgery will be comparable to laparoscopic surgery. Also, it is possible to do more complex procedures with the robot and there is less physical “wear and tear” on the surgeon.
